Diphotons yield in Data:

3 types of difference to understand

data/MC

data/data between groups

data/data between Run2010A and Run2010B (trigger paths)

Susan(Lyon) - comparison with my ~3pb-1 spectrum. This was my older pT 20,20 spectrum, and theirs was pT 30,30

http://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=5&resId=0&materialId=slides&confId=105504

Duong(Exo ADD model) - This is not the spectrum from our RS group. His backgrounds are not MC (attempt at data estimated rates). I would compare with this last.

Yousi/Toyoko(RS group) - Here there is data excess compared to MC, but the QCD sample is regular, and not the EM-enriched (I'm adding this soon as the xfer finishes). The Data yield also seems different from MPA (yousi - QCD group). We are comparing event by event.

https://torimoto.web.cern.ch/torimoto/physics/diphoton/data/

Ntuples are made and maintained by yousi on castor

Yousi(QCD/Higgs group) - using /EG/Run2010A-SepReRECO for Run2010A (2.3 of 3.1 pb-1 returned) and /Photon/Run2010B-promptreco for Run2010B (1.337+2.5pb-1 + 3.9pb coming v. soon). ntuples private to our t3-higgs:/raid1 (yousi is a developer of MPAnalyzer, but 38X is not official yet).

HLT triggers:

run2010A: HLT_Photon15_L1R || HLT_Photon15_Cleaned_L1R || HLT_Photon20_L1R || HLT_Photon20_L1R || HLT_Photon20_Cleaned_L1R || HLT_Photon30_L1R || HLT_Photon30_L1R_8E29

run2010B: HLT_Photon30_Cleaned_L1R || HLT_Photon50_L1R || HLT_Photon50_Cleaned_L1R

run2010B also has the double triggers available, but didn't use these yet.

5 week plan:

0) Classify all available samples, with the analyzers used and datacards used

if private production.

Target: Today (mainly done).

1) Use stable version of the MPA analyzer to finish running on

all available MC and data (including MADGRAPH, etc.)

Store on castor and make available to other H2gamma people.

Timeline: 10/25. Report on progress at the next H2gamma

meeting.

2) Run on the samples using the recent recommended photon

ID. Compare with data. Help from Yong to cross-check ?

Target for first iteration: next Monday QCD photons meeting (10/28).

3) First-order check of the significance for cuts and categories.

Update of the stat. methods used.

Timeline: 11/02.

4) Optimization of the cut and categories (if needed). Understanding

the effects of calibration precision. Looking at VBF like events in

data.

Timeline: 11/09.

5) MVA (SRP) reach: assuming Fall10 MC is ready.

Study of systematic effects. 0,1,2 jets categories.

Timeline: 11/16

6) Effects of pileup, vertex reconstruction. Help from Yong ?

7) Resolution studies: help from Vladlen and all ?

We will start a Caltech Physic twiki (that will have Higgs, SUSY, Exotica chapters) and a Detector twiki that will have ECAL, HCAL to start with;

It will be a way to keep up to date and gather the progress and for others to be checking what is going on within the group. Since a twiki

does not need pre-structuring you can start the Higgstogammagamma one and then we will make its parent so that we have some sort of

hierarchy/nesting etc.
